B105 - Methods of Exploring God's Word (3)

Monday 6:00-8:00pm; Dave Ferguson, Senior Pastor, Beloit Foursquare

This course gives guidelines for studying the different types of literature (the genres) that make up the Bible. We will explore the meaning of original texts - a process called exegesis - and how that meaning is applied into a variety of texts today. We will utilize both inductive and deductive study.

This course studies the doctrine of salvation as planned by the Godhead.

 

B101 - Old Testament Survey (3)

Tuesday, 6:00-8:00pm; Lowell Ferris, M Div. , MA Hebrew Studies, UW

An exciting exploration of the entire Old Testament - Genesis through Malachi. Additional topics including historical origins of the literature, archaeology, and history of the greater Near East will be briefly covered.

 

B215 - The Epistles of Paul (3)

Tuesday, 6-8pm, Tim Genin, Senior Pastor, Chapel Valley Community Church

The focus of this study is to provide the student with a functional overview and general content of Paul's message concerning the Church. The great truths of doctrine are considered, and strong emphasis is placed upon the outworking of these in the life of the believer. Also, we will study the back- ground of these letters.

 

W113 - Exploring Worship (3)

Tuesday, 8:15-10:15, Kim Genin, Worship Pastor, Chapel Valley Community Church

This course is designed for those who have a heart for worship as well as for those who desire to increase their worship communication with God. Learn the power, patterns, principles and practicality of praise and worship. Disclaimer: Being a singer or musician is not required!

 

B203 - Old Testament Prophets (3)

Tuesday, 8:15-10:15pm; Lowell Ferris, M Div. , MA Hebrew Studies, UW

This course surveys the Biblical, prophetic books of Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel and the Twelve in a manner similar to Old Testament Survey but in greater depth. Emphasis is placed on the historical circumstances, the immediate intent of these prophets' words and also the implications for future events. The Book of Daniel will also be discussed.

 

M104 - Spiritual Gifts & Ministries (3)

Thursday; 6-8pm, Larry DeWerd, PhD

This is a practical course that examines the activities of the Father, the ministries of our Lord Jesus, and the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Students will learn to participate in the ministry of the Holy Spirit and understand the purpose of each spiritual gift (personal and corporate), including their own, "giftings." We will look at how these gifts operate in the lives of individual believers and the Church.

 

P107 - Systematic Theology I (3)

Wednesday, 6-8pm, Warren Allfrey, DVM

This course will study the revelations God has given about Himself. Emphasis is placed on man as God's creation, a sinner alienated from God, and man as an object of God's redeeming grace. Applying the work and power of the Holy Spirit to personal salvation is also an important aspect of this course.

 

C106 - Biblical Counseling (3)

Thursday; 8:15-10:15pm, Vada DeWerd, MSSW, LCSW, CSAC

This course teaches how to form effective and empathetic counseling relationships. It is both theologically sound and Spirit-led. We will study common behaviors and the problems one will likely face in ministry. There are many effective skills that help one become an effective communicator, including active listening. Students will explore different counseling skills and what works best for different situations.
