Rev. Dr. Larry DeWerd

Rev. Dr. Larry DeWerd has been a Christian for 46 years. He is the Founder and Director of Spirit Life Institute (SLI) of Ministry as well as a Teaching Pastor at Chapel Valley Community Church. Besides teaching and directing SLI he is also a professor of Medical Physics at the University of Wisconsin. God has called Dr. Larry DeWerd to a teaching ministry. He has taught on various Biblical topics every week since 1976 in a bible study to over 300 people. These subjects have included biblical history, defense of the faith, eschatology, spiritual gifts, etc. In addition, he has taught the Bible in Christian conferences and in many churches, including Chapel Valley Community Church. He has worked with the Lord to lead 115 people to Jesus. Together with his wife, 390 people have been led into the Baptism with the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking with tongues.
Rev. Tim Genin
Senior Pastor, Co-Founder; Chairman; Instructor

Rev. Tim Genin has been the senior Pastor of Chapel Valley Community Church since the fall of 1992. Both Pastor Tim and his wife Kim are graduates of a Bible Institute and thus appreciate the quality preparation provided through institute training. The intimate classroom atmosphere, close relationships with students and faculty, and a class schedule that allowed for full-time work as well as family time gave them the opportunity for training that otherwise may not have happened. Presently, Pastor Tim has a ministerial staff of 8 people, each prepared through various means of training bringing a healthy and unique perspective to today’s ministry challenges. Additionally, Pastor Tim is the Divisional Superintendent of the Southern Wisconsin area, is a Church Planters Coach, and has served the Church Multiplication Initiative as a presenter for Church Planters Intensives in various regions throughout the United States under the leadership of Rev. Ann Roth.

Vada DeWerd
MSSW, BS, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor; Instructor
Courses: Biblical Counseling, Freedom from Addictions, Marriage and Family
Vada DeWerd got her MSSW at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. She is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), which enables her to do psychotherapy. She also has her CSAC, Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor certification. Vada works at Tellurian Intensive Outpatient Services for treating Drug and Alcohol addictions. She also has done family and child counseling. IN the past she had a private practice and has done Christian counseling. Vada has been a Christian since she was a young child, and has worked in the church with teaching children, youth and adult Bible Studies and home groups. Vada has forty years of counseling experience.

Rev. Steve Cecil

Steve Cecil began his ministry as a pastor 1994, the year he graduated from Life Pacific Bible College. He served as a youth pastor at Chapel Valley Community Church in Fitchburg for 4.5 years, after which he served as a youth pastor under Jim Hayford in Bothell, WA for 5.5 years. In 2004 he and his family moved back to Madison to plant "The Journey," a downtown church focused on developing disciples with a missional, urban focus.
Steve married his wife Kim in 1998, and has three children: Kaela, Connor, and Caeden. He loves spending time with his family and friends, and enjoys traveling, playing sports, and eating at new restaurants.

Warren Allfrey
DVM; Instructor

Dr. Warren Allfrey graduated from Liverpool University in England in 1989 as a veterinarian. He met his wife, Sue, in 1993 at Youth With A Mission, and moved to the USA in 1996. As a member of Prison Fellowship he taught Bible studies in Oregon Correctional Institute for 5 years. He is founder and president of Lazarus Veterinary Clinics, Inc. which is America’s first Christian non- profit veterinary corporation. He is an active member of the Gideons, through which he has been able to distribute God’s Word in a variety of local settings such as high schools, MATC, UW and local prisons. He ministers in England several times a year, both as a teacher as well as on a more personal level in the local church. Warren’s particular area of interest is the fulfillment of the part of the Lord’s Prayer, “deliver us from evil.” So in addition to teaching Systematic Theology I and II, he has a heart to see deliverance ministry take its rightful place within the church
